Founding Software Engineer (VC-backed)

An early-stage, VC-backed startup is hiring a Founding Engineer to help build an intelligent AI platform designed to autonomously manage and resolve engineering incidents. The company is working directly with enterprise customers and is quietly backed by leading investors and repeat founders.

About the Role:

The Founding Engineer will work directly with the CTO to design core systems, ship foundational features, and influence key architectural decisions. This is a high-ownership, high-impact role for someone who thrives in fast-moving environments and wants to build meaningful infrastructure using the latest in AI and software engineering.

The role spans across the stack, from backend services and infra to frontend interfaces and agentic AI workflows. Ideal candidates are technical generalists with strong product instincts and experience operating in ambiguous, high-stakes situations.

Responsibilities

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience (TypeScript, Node.js, React)
• Strong foundation in backend systems, infrastructure, and full-stack development
• Experience with or deep curiosity about LLMs, embeddings, prompt engineering, and agentic workflows
• Demonstrated ability to ship quickly without sacrificing long-term scalability
• A user-oriented mindset and strong communication skills
• Startup or early-stage experience is a plus, especially in reliability, infra, or AI tooling
