Ovise has partnered with a large retail organization that is looking to continue it’s move from on-premiss to Amazon Web Services. As they continue to expand their digital footprint, they’re seeking a visionary Head of DevOps with a focus on AWS to lead a small but talented team in driving continuous improvement and operational excellence.

The Head of DevOps will play a pivotal role in shaping DevOps strategy and leveraging AWS cloud technologies to enhance the firm’s software development lifecycle. This individual will lead a team of DevOps engineers, fostering collaboration, innovation, and automation to support their growing digital infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute the company’s DevOps strategy, aligning it with business objectives and industry best practices.
  • AWS Cloud Management: Lead the design, implementation, and management of AWS cloud infrastructure, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security.
  • Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD): Implement and optimize CI/CD pipelines to automate software delivery and deployment processes.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Drive the adoption of infrastructure as code principles using tools like Terraform or AWS CloudFormation for efficient resource provisioning and management.
  • Monitoring and Optimization: Implement robust monitoring and alerting systems to ensure the health and performance of our cloud infrastructure, and continuously optimize for cost-efficiency.
  • Security and Compliance: Collaborate with security teams to implement best practices for security and compliance within AWS environments.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of DevOps engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in DevOps/Engineering, with at least 3 years in a technical leadership role.
  • Extensive experience with AWS cloud services, including but not limited to EC2, S3, IAM, Lambda, RDS, and CloudWatch.
  • Proven expertise in implementing CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or AWS CodePipeline.
  • Strong understanding of infrastructure as code principles and experience with tools such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
  • Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes.
  • Solid understanding of networking, security, and compliance within AWS environments.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams towards achieving strategic goals.
